Gardens of Andalucia

May 1–11, 2017

Spain’s climate, varied landscape, diverse culture, and rich history make it one of Europe’s most fascinating countries. These same ingredients have combined in Andalucía, an exotic southern region with a rich Moorish heritage, to produce a wealth of memorable buildings and enchanting gardens, the finest of which feature on this 9-night tour.  Highlights include visits to the mesmerizing Mezquita mosque/cathedral, the exquisite patio gardens at the Palace of Viana, the serene water gardens of Seville’s Alcazar, and the magnificent 14th century Alhambra and Generalife, arguably Europe’s greatest monument and one of the world’s great gardens.  We will also see an array of flower-filled private courtyards not normally open to the public as we join Cordoba’s annual Festival of Los Patios.  Staying in comfortable, well-located hotels, we enjoy an excursion to Priego de Cordoba and Ronda, spectacularly set high above the River Tajo.
